How Realistic Expectations Helped Make Me Money Online
Did you know that 98% of new affiliate marketers fail within the first 60 days?
Unfortunately most online affiliates are out of business before they really get started. How does this happen? Is it because affiliate marketing is just a scam? Affiliate marketing is absolutely not a scam. Rather, it is a legitimate business that you actually have to invest time and some money into.
We have all seen the online testimonials of people who earn $20,000 their first month as an affiliate with virtually no effort. If that were really happening to the average member of these programs, everyone on the planet would be signed up to make money without any effort. As tempting as these promises are, they simply are not realistic.
Claims that provide an unrealistic view of affiliate marketing are what cause so many to give up. After not making $20,000 per month in the first 60 days, many become discouraged, assume affiliate marketing does not work and quit. You see, 98% of new affiliates do not fail. They quit.
So, if you are unlikely to make $20,000 your first month, what is realistic? Of course, that depends on a variety of factors. The two biggest being:
1. How much time and effort you invest in your new business
2. The knowledge you have to run a successful affiliate business
Initially, your earnings probably won't be anything to write home about. I made $50 my first month and $250 the second month. However, as time went on, I built additional affiliate sites, earned better search engine rankings and, of course, became more knowledgeable about my new business. As I became better at my business, my income continued to increase. Clearly, I had to invest time each week to learn the affiliate marketing business and work on my sites. In addition to investing time, I also had a secret weapon: quality training.
An affiliate business is a tremendous opportunity to earn a legitimate income from home. Your long-term earning potential is limited only by the effort you are willing to put forth. If you want to be one of thousands who can say, "Affiliate marketing has helped to make me money online," remember the following three things. First, have realistic expectations. It will take time to build your income. Second, get some training. There is a learning curve with affiliate marketing. Finally, stick with it. Even the "affiliate marketing gurus" have made mistakes.
