Ranbir Kapoor, Priyanka Chopra's Anjaana Anjaani:
Two strangers meet on a bridge in the middle of the night, both trying to off themselves. After that it’s all about stayin’ alive till the agreed-upon date: some days down the line, they will meet again, same time, same place, and finish what they had started.
Very Hollywood rom com type, huh? Absolutely. Despite its homegrown name, Anjaana Anjaani is quintessentially an NRI film, whose good-looking characters shuttle between New York and San Fran and Vegas, and talk in Hindi but think in English. When Kiara (Chopra) tells Akash (Kapoor): Chalo yeh karte hain , you hear her say, let’s do this. For the record, Akash has decided to do “this” because of a huge loss of savings and face in the stock market crash. And also because he’s a jerk, unmindful of friends and family, who’s been called on it.
