‘Ek Niranjan’ in Thailand to shoot climax scenes

Shooting of climax scenes is in progress for ‘Ek Niranjan’ directed by Puri Jagannath and produced by Aditya Ram under the banner of Adityaram Movies.

The speciality of the film is Kangana Ranaut, a popular Bollywood heroine who is making her debut in Tollywood. This is the second film from the powerful director-hero combo, as they have earlier worked for ‘Bujjigadu’.

Recently, the film completed choreography of songs in Switzerland and returned from abroad schedule. The unit again left for Thailand to shoot the climax scenes. It is learnt that the unit stayed there for about a month and almost all the main star cast attended the shooting.

The director prepared the story keeping in mind entertainment and action in its backdrop. Moreover, he had moulded the hero’s character with utmost precision to attract all classes of audiences.

Earlier, a special set was erected exclusively for the film in Hyderabad. Mukul Dev, Makarand Deshpande, Brahmanandam, Ali, Sunil, Venumadhav, Brahmaji, Tanikella Bharani, Sangeetha and others are in the cast. Music is by Manisharma, cinematography is by Shyam K Naidu, while the film is being presented and directed by Puri Jagannath.

Raviteja’s new venture with Bellamkonda

Producer Bellamkonda Suresh is all set to create a sensation with each successive project. His latest film ‘Ride’ was proved a hit. A few days ago, he had announced a film ‘Bhishma’ with Balakrishna as hero under the direction of Ramesh Varma.

Recently, he bagged the remake rights of a successful Tamil film ‘Nadodigal’ by paying a huge sum. The film with friendship in its backdrop with Sasikumar, Vizharu, Bharani, Anan and Neha in the lead roles was proved a hit and it was directed by Samutirakani.

According to reliable information, Raviteja is roped in as hero for this film, while another role in the film was reportedly offered to Allari Naresh. It may be mentioned here that the producer had already announced another film with Raviteja and Krishnavamsi. If, ‘Nadodigal’ remake goes to sets earlier, the film with Krishnavamsi might be delayed a little further. Chances are bright that the director of the original may wield the megaphone for the Telugu version also.

Non-Cooperation For 'Magadheera' From Producers Council

It appears that the Producers Council has been coming up with rather revolutionary decisions and many say that this could involve a lot of consequences. Mainly, it is the stand that the council has been taking towards the TV channels when it comes to promoting the films and giving ads.

Sometime back, three big channels - MAA TV, ETV, Gemini TV were banned by the council and they were refrained from being given any film related ads. The council also went further by issuing no invites to these three channels for press meets and other film related events. The cause for this was said to be an expensive tariff quoted by these channels.

Now, even the ZEE Telugu has been joined into this league. Apparently, the channel is said to have mentioned that they were unable to come up with film teasers or ads during the primetime since the fees being given was not working out.

However, sources from the council say that the producers want to give a message that the TV depends on film industry but not vice versa.

Just when this tussle between the Producers Council and the TV channels has been getting hot, a move by film maker Allu Aravind seems to have rubbed salt on the wrong side. Apparently, Allu went ahead and gave the ‘Magadheera’ audio release event live to the MAA TV recently.

As per the industry sources, this has not gone well with the Producers Council and they have now said to have resolved that no support would be given to Allu Aravind in the event of any issue regarding this movie. It is also said that an anti-Allu Aravind group is coming together to come up with stern action due to this.

It is also heard that a motif was issued by the council demanding an explanation but no reply has been received from Aravind.

“Now, this has to be understood that if Allu Aravind faces any problem as producer either with exhibitors or any others, Producers’ Council will not stand for him”, says a birdie.

As it is, Allu has picked up friction in the political front in the PRP camp and now he seems to be picking up few more issues in his own film industry too.

How nice it would be had she kept away from that? How the memories of her childhood would have lasted longer in the minds if she kept away from becoming heroine’?

All these feelings have stuck me after watching Shamili in Oy. With great interest to watch her, I have been to theatre but alas! that killed the cute little Shamili in my heart. To say in a blunt way and uncompromising language, she is not right suit to be heroine. She has no required grace or glamour in her to appear as heroine. She is far away from the standards.

We may recall Saritha, Poornima, Sujatha and Sarada those were not so glamorous but made a bigger mark as heroines. But those days have gone and Shamili shows no dexterity in performance as those yesteryears’ actresses did. Shamili is no way good with respect to looks or performance.

Every girl has to assess herself before stepping into films as heroine. They should come only when they feel that they can withstand for a few years. But the girls like Shamili stand as wrong examples. Her elder sister Shalini is far better when compared to her. That lady had some photogenic appeal unlike Shamili.

I feel that Shamili may not get next offer unless she reduces her weight and works on grooming and performance.

Aishwarya Rai seems to have many hidden talents. One that was recently discovered is her quick grasp of languages. And the unit which discovered this secret is none other than Shankar’s Endhiran when the pretty babe held her own against our glib-talking super-talking Superstar.

“Since Tamil isn’t really familiar territory for Aishwarya, everyone, including Rajini sir and director Shankar, was ready for several re-takes while she was memorising her lines.”
To everyone’s surprise, Aishwarya got a grip of the language in no time at all. “She was rattling off the dialogues and getting the hang of the emotions with equal skill in both the Hindi and Tamil takes. This much impressed Rajini sir, who has waited for years to work with Aishwarya.”

When asked about the incident, Aishwarya laughs. “Regional languages have never been a problem. I did a Bengali film Chokher Bali and was able to get a hang of the complex intonations while shooting. However, they later dubbed for my character as they needed a particular sing-song tone,” she reveals.

Now, the buzz in the Endhiran unit is that they are planning to retain her Tamil lines in the final print. Says the actress, “I’m not familiar with Tamil. But my first film Iruvar was in Tamil and I had to say lengthy lines in that film. From my beginnings with Mani Ratnam in Tamil, to this film, it’s been quite a journey.”

How was it rubbing shoulders with Abhi-Ash? “I had to shoot some portions only with Abhishek. It was nice working with such a jovial person. He is quite friendly and talks to even spot-boys on the sets.” Will this plum project be her Bollywood launchpad? “I don't know really. For me, since this was an offer from Mani Rathnam I just took it up. Any actor can give his/her right hand to work with Mani.” Her next Tollywood film Pravararkudu, says Priyamani “is specially designed for the Gen Next audience. The film tries to explore whether love is just a physical attraction or something beyond it,” she informs. She’s also one of the few Tamil actresses who is a household name in Tollywood, despite a few duds. Recently, she triggered a debate with her dare-bare act in Drona. “I received a mixed response for my bikini act. But I haven't taken a firm stand on whether I want to do more such scenes at a later date or not,” she affirms. Despite a bunch of offers, she hasn't any new Telugu film. Is it because she's known to have revised her fees? “I don't think so. My pay packet is reasonable. But I prefer doing films where I have a meaty role. The set-up of the film and the filmmaker also matter to me. For me those are vital issues that help me decide on a film. You never sign a film only for money” she reasons. Then what’s making her dabble in other language films? The reason, says the sultry beauty queen is simple. “For an actress, the choices are more if one is open to the idea of doing films in different languages. I could even do an Oriya film if the role excites me,” says the multi-lingual actress. Priyamani seems to be in the mood to experiment. After playing a role with negative shades (Mithrudu) she sounds equally excited about her upcoming Tamil film Ninaithale Innikkum. On the personal front, her family provides her rock solid support in all her endeavours. “I often chill out with my brother and parents in Bangalore,” she informs. A gadget freak, she gets tips from her brother on the latest mobiles and laptops. “I am truly looking forward to my South Africa trip where I'm shooting with Jagapathi Babu,” she quips. She thinks her seven-year-old film career has been fruitful even as she confesses that being a workaholic means she's so busy with work that she has no time for love.

When I’m home in Kerala, I cherish my fish curry and rice. However, to say I can’t do without meat even for a day is an exaggerated fact.
