Amisha Patel was born on 9th June 1976 in Maharashtra. She is daughter of Asha Patel and Amit Patel. Amisha has one brother named Ashmit Patel. Her grandfather was Rajni Patel who was great lawyer. Her name is combination of her father's and mother's name (Amit and Asha)
She completed her graduation from the Tufts University in Massachusetts. After completion of her education she came to India and joined theatre group of Satyadev Dubey and performed some plays. She had long time affair with his boy friend Vikram Bhatt but now days broke-up is happened between them.
Amisha performed her first film "Kaho Naa …Pyaar Hai". This film was directed by Rakesh Roshan and co-star was Hritik Roshan. Film became super hit and she made star overnight. Film was biggest hit of the year.She won first award for Best Debut for this film. Her next film was "Gadar: Ek Prem Katha" which was romantic film performed with actor Sunny Deol. This film was also top disgusting film of the year. She got Filmfare Award for Special Performance for this film.
After success of these films, some of her films were flopped such as "Yeh Zindagi Kaa Safar" in which she played role of Singer, role of career oriented girl who opposed the love of hero in "Kya Yehi Pyaar Hai" with Aftaab Shivdasani and selfish role in "Humraaz" with the actors Akshaye Khanna and Bobby Deol. She performed with Karishma Kapoor in film "Mere Jeevan Saathi" and with Tobey Stephens who is Hollywood actor. Some of her films were "Humko Tumase Pyaar Hai", "Teesri Ankh", "Aap ki Khatir" but did not do well at the box office. In film "Honeymoon Travels Pvt Ltd" she played role of wife whose husband is a bisexual.
Her latest released film was "Bhool Bhulaiya". Now days she is doing film of Kunal Kohli in which co-stars are Saif Ali Khan and Rani Mukherjee. She signed two comedy and big projects named "Do Lucky" with the actor Govinda and "Chatur Singh Two Star" with the Bollywood Star Sanjay Dutt.
